Deconstructing Trailer Park Boys Wedding Episode
It is difficult to find this unique blend of humor and chaos in showbiz. The much-anticipated wedding in Season 1 is no exception.
During the start of the plot, we find Ricky addressing the camera crew. He boasts about his new found maturity and proclaims that he only gets drunk on weekend. Perhaps this is an attempt to signal a departure from his previous pot growing projects.
However, a lot of tension builds up when Lucy connects with Julian and reveals that Ricky has no proper plan to conduct the wedding ceremony. This gives rise to a chain of events which eventually test the relationships of everyone involved in the story line.
- The First Segment
During the first part we can have a glimpse into the contrasting dynamics of the characters. While Lucy is describing her bachelor party, Cory and Trevor are busy discussing Ricky’s stag night.
Sarah appreciates the fact that Julian is making an effort for Ricky’s marriage so that he can eventually be free to pursue Candy without interruption. Candy is seen washing a truck and viewers can observe a genuine happiness with Julian.
Julian receives and emotional message from Trinity emphasizing the depth of her affection. At that time, he was in the trailer with Bubbles. Bubbles warns Julian regarding any sort of plans which involve abandoning Trinity. He says this as per his own life experience.
Ricky is confident about his ability to plan the wedding. This sets the stage for the hilarious and misguided planning of the upcoming heist.
- Planning The Heist
Julian is under pressure due to Lucy’s persistent messages about the wedding expenses. He plans out a robbery for food along with Cory, Trevor and Bubbles. Bubbles reveals his expertise in shopping cart reconstruction. This would be a huge help in the upcoming heist.
Ricky who is totally unaware about the upcoming plans confronts Julian regarding the secret meetings that he is having with other gang members. Then there is a surprise stag party which takes place in a strip club. Here we can find the contrasting behaviors of Ricky who shows his expertise in excessive drinking. But the rest of the gang remains focused on the impending heist.
- The Hilarious Heist in Action
The gang is ready and full masked up to conduct the robbery. But suddenly, Ricky, who is still intoxicated, stumbles in the store. Ricky has no clue about the happenings around him. He pulls out a gun which results in a chaotic shootout.
Somehow the gang moves away just before the police arrive on the scene. Ricky then realizes that he was the only without a mask and the security cameras have the entire recording of the event.
The very next day Julian asks Candy to move in with him in the new trailer. Ricky seems content and has breakfast with Trinity and Lucy. The temporary peace in the park is broken when detective Ted Johnson arrives to inquire about the recent incidents.
- The Wedding Day Drama
Julian assures Ricky about things being under control. However, the police arrive during the ceremony to arrest Ricky. Out of nowhere Julian kisses Candy and fires his gun! Police arrest him as well. After the arrest the wedding concludes in chaos.
In the end we have a scene where Julian and Ricky are contemplating on the past experiences (six months later). Ricky is of the view that the time behind bars will strengthen his relationship with Lucy. Julian, the eternal optimist embraces the power of positive thinking. The end is not really the conclusion in the wedding episode because viewers remain in suspense about the course of future events.
