Alex Lifeson pops up in several installments of the Trailer Park Boys saga but the Episode ” Closer to the Heart” from Season 3 Episode 5 packs in a lot of punch.
There is a RUSH concert that Bubbles wants to attend but he is not getting the tickets and the man is desperate! His attempts to do so make this episode hilarious.
Founded in 1968, the Canadian rock band RUSH had three stellar figures namely Alex Lifeson, John Rutsey and Jeff Jones ( replaced by Geddy Lee ).
Lifeson plays a bit of fictional character of himself in the episode and though the episode brings in a certain amount of friction among the characters, they reconcile in the end.
At one point Ricky kidnaps him for not providing the tickets but the storyline ends on a good note with Alex Lifeson performing a duet with Bubbles at the park.

Bubbles is busy because the cat needs a vet. He insist that the boys must visit the concert because he obviously finds Rush to be awesome. Accordingly, Julian goes along with Ricky to fetch the tickets.
Jim receives a lot of flak because of the fines involved with mixing recyclables and garbage. There is a huge pile of trash on the front side now. The boys find this a good opportunity to dish out some mouthful to Lahey (for the garbage mess).
Barb Lahey decides that Jim and Randy cannot go for the camping trip till this situation is resolved.
Julian gives some money to Trevor and instructs him to buy Rush tickets. Ricky and Julian plan to sell dope at the concert but they do not have the stock. Hence they decide to get some from the cops involving a secret transaction.
Lahey gets to know that the boys are planning to attend the Rush concert. As part of a plan Randy create a fight scene with the ticket seller.
There is a lot of distraction due to the fight which allows Lahey to buy all the remaining tickets!
He mocks Bubbles and displays the tickets but refuses to let the boys have any if they do not help him clear the trash.
Ricky kidnaps Alex Lifeson from the Rush concert
They boys have the dope and they need to sell it at the concert. They agree to help Lahey in recycling so as to get the tickets. There is contest on radio and the prize involves being Alex Lifeson’s guitar technician at the event. Bubbles knows the answer and decides to call the station but Randy beats him in the race and wins the prize.
Bubbles is desperate and begs Lahey for a concert ticket. However, Lahey does not agree and then everyone moves out of recycling.
The boys are still looking for solutions to attend the event. Trevor and Cory suggest using the sewage system!
But Ricky does the impossible task. He enters the hotel room for Lifeson as a guitar technician and then requests him to provide the tickets. However, Lifeson explains that he cannot do it. This flares up the tempers and Ricky kidnaps him and takes him to the park.
Julian is shell shocked and thinking about jail term. But then he apologizes agrees to release Lifeson on the condition that cops are not involved.
The boys reach the venue using sewage route!
Now the sewage route takes shape. The boys along with Trevor and Cory enter the concert arena using the sewage ways. They find Randy showing no respect to Alex when he requests him to wear a shirt. Security arrives on the scene and the boys are shown the door.
The trio will not give up! They travel the sewage route once more and get into the concert hall bathroom. The dope bag got mixed in Lifeson’s luggage and even the clothing got mixed. The boys rush to the dressing room where Alex tells them about the dope in his bag and that he smoked some it! The looks are satisfying.
Meanwhile Bubbles informs them all that Lahey and Randy are selling the extra tickets outside the venue. Both of them are evicted from the concert.
The end note is a sweet one. Bubbles informs them that randy stole his answer for the trivia question and hence he is the rightful winner of the contest. Thus Bubbles gets to perform on stage as Lifeson’s guitar tech.
And then he accompanies the boys back to the park and shows them some guitar chords. Eventually we have a cool jam session in the end. We know this as the title “Closer to the Heart” where both the legends give us a good show.
