Here are some tips if you are interested in identifying the iconic “Shitmobile” which is an integral part of the story line. So much happens around this car and it is now difficult to imagine some of the scenes without it.

- Missing right front door
Check out the right front door and it won’t be there. It was the Christmas Eve 1997 when this happened. Ricky tried to fill the gap by taking out the door from Lahey’s car and putting it in the missing space. However, he gave it back when Jim Lahey was reinstated as supervisor. No wonder these guys are after the post of supervisor.
- Color.
The original color was green. But then it underwent a bad quality paint job in black. This made matters worse. Now the green reveals itself through the black.
- Driving features.
This is perhaps the best part of the deal. You drive it in the third gear as the first one makes the car go in reverse. That’s not all. The reverse gear activates the second gear.
Julian lets Ricky live in the car because he wants to stay away from him. In the next episode, he gives away the car to Ricky so that he might move out and let him live in peace. You can find out this in Season 1, episode 1.

Is this Ricky’s car really? Well, the car originally belonged to Julian’s grandmother, and he eventually got it by way of insurance (That’s the way it goes buddy!)
Julian thinks that his life of crime exists because of his association with Ricky. Hence, during the start of Season 1 you can feel his desperation to remain away from him. The giving away of the car is just one of the acts that shows this feeling. There are many such incidents which clearly reveal how Julian intends to start a normal guilt free life without the police sirens blaring around him. But as we know, the storyline takes a rather meandering turn!

The car is in a deplorable condition and hence the name describes it perfectly. Julian’s grandmother was no expert driver, and the car owes its deplorable looks to her reckless driving. She drove mostly while drunk!
